We almost got stuck in a snowstorm last February – corporate video
We know we have been way too quiet for the last couple of months but as you might guess, we have been BUSY with a lot of video productions in Orlando and out of state as well!
In this post, we wanted to share an experience we had last February when we when to North Indiana to film a corporate video with the REV Group’s CEO Tim Sullivan. It’s not your typical case study, but somehow it is. Although the circumstances where a bit last minute to decide and act.
We went to Elkhart, Indiana this past winter to film a video at REV’s manufacture plant “Midwest” where they build Small RVs and Sprinter Limos for high-end users and celebrities. Overall, REV Group has plants all over the country where they build specialty vehicles like ambulances, fire trucks, RVs and buses. We shoot videos all over the US for the company.
Of course, it was February in northern Indiana and it was starting to snow. Long story short, we were meeting Tim at the plant at 9 am and as we are opening the reception door we get a phone call.
It was from Tim! and he wasn’t coming.
He was supposed to fly in from Milwaukee that morning but weather conditions were horrible at the airport and he was still in Milwaukee waiting for the storm to pass; at that point, he didn’t know when he would be able to get out of there.
We had to think fast and come up with a solution for the situation.
Did we mentioned that as a production company part of our job description is problem-solving!
The thing was that we couldn’t stay an extra day in Elkhart… and with the storm coming our way we may be stuck there for days.
On the other hand, he wasn’t sure if he could make it the next day anyway.
As we were still on the phone with Tim, he finally said that he could meet us in Orlando the week after; but we were already there and the idea for the video was to feature the plant.
What to do?!
We figured doing green screen could work in order to show the plant and we could film Tim at our studio the week after. Then mix everything up in editing.
We told Tim we could get all the shots we needed at the plant since we are already there and with our experience doing green screen shoots we knew we were going to be fine.
The video featured in this post shows how the video came alive when putting together both footage, what we filmed in Elkhart and then what we filmed in Orlando with Tim.
